In the Discover stage, we train a wide base of researchers in entrepreneurial concepts, setting the stage for future innovation aligned with market pathways to impact. Sessions are delivered in a pair of webinars, open to any CGIAR innovator at any stage wanting to explore market pathways.

- “Discovering Research Impact” - how participants’ research can be developed for both impact and career progression, with examples of best practice, practical advice and general guidance

RAMP Launch
The Launch stage builds upon the foundation provided in Discover, and provides in-depth training in early-stage market validation. Sessions is designed for scientists working on one or more particular innovations for which they will engage in a series of three trainings and a culminating presentation.

- Explore a range of different business models/financially sustainable models for generating impact-at-scale, and determine if they are the right fit for your research
- Gain early-stage entrepreneurial skills and learn how to use key tools
- Identify and engage new audiences
- Start the market validation process and start testing your idea with potential customers and external stakeholders
- Generate a robust market-focused proposal (such as ventures or licenses) and articulate it cohesively and concisely during the presentation
- Receive expert feedback that will help inform the next steps to progress your idea and generate impact
RAMP Accelerate
In the Accelerate stage, teams or individual scientists apply with their innovation to a structured incubation program, undergoing a bootcamp and intensive training to prepare their solutions for impact at scale, through vehicles such as ventures, licensing, and joint development partnerships, and more. Advisors from the external innovation ecosystem provide additional guidance to the cohort to help propel these ventures forward and align them to scaling opportunities with project partners and beyond.

- In-person Bootcamp for admitted innovations to train on communicating research to new audiences, key ideas, and market validation
- Further virtual incubation curriculum including legal structures, cash flow modeling, entrepreneur talks, investor pitch training, business plan
- Matching with a mentor who has experience building a creating impact through market-focused approaches in a similar space
- Final pitch presentation serving as demo day for stakeholders and investors

- Develop a comprehensive business model that allows you to sustain and scale your impact
- Gain entrepreneurial and sector-specific skills that help you turn your research into real-world ventures

- Investor guidance and due diligence support to 7 select innovations, and planning for next steps for innovations not yet ready

The CGIAR Accelerate for Impact Platform (A4IP) is the venture space that leverages CGIAR’s legacy in research and innovation to co-design, accelerate, and de-risk the development and deployment of science-based technology-driven solutions for sustainable agriculture and climate action. A4IP pioneers entrepreneurial models that bridge research products from lab to market, create demand for CGIAR science, and strengthen its function in the innovation ecosystem. The initiative plays a catalytic role for entrepreneurial scientists, start-ups, and other strategic partners driving agri-, food-, and climate-tech innovation to make our agrifood systems healthier, more equitable, and more sustainable.
